Join Nashville Opera’s Young Artists in the intimate setting of this Franklin eatery for an evening of delicious food and song!  Opera’s greatest hits will be performed during courses with a western theme, another nod to The Girl of the Golden West.

 

1st course: Applewood Smoked Bacon Seared Scallops paired with Coppola Pinot Grigio

 

2nd course:  Smoked Beef Brisket Chili  or Western Salad with Fresh Greens, Corn, Bacon and a Chipotle Ranch Dressing paired with Coppola Chardonnay

Who doesn’t like a good love story (and hors d’oeuvres!)?  Director of Education and Outreach Stuart Holt investigates an adult perspective of the magic and passion behind fairy tales. 


This will be an engrossing fun-filled evening of music and stories, featuring audio and video samples.  A sampling of pieces from Nashville Opera’s production of La Cenerentola (Cinderella) will also be featured as well as an exploration of its roots in literature including the many different Cinderella stories from ancient Greece, early China, Europe, and the Far East.

This third annual collaboration combines picnicking, an outdoor concert of popular arias and Broadway standards, and the opportunity to gaze at the stars through the observatory’s main telescope.  A cast of professional opera singers will perform under a large open-air canopy.  A heavenly sell-out each year!

Enjoy light refreshments as Artistic Director, John Hoomes discusses the combination of visual and artistic elements that are used to design the set of an opera.  A Paint Along Nashville visual artist will lead a painting workshop on canvas using, as inspiration, Nashville Opera’s production of Madama Butterfly. Finished paintings will be displayed at Tennessee Performing Arts Center during Nashville Opera’s Madama Butterfly, October 11 and 13, 2012, then available to take home with the artist. Space is limited.

Music, Art, and Opera will collide this fall at the Frist!  Join the artistic staff of Nashville Symphony, Nashville Opera, and the Frist Center for a panel discussion exploring the cultural make-up of Germany during the early twentieth-century German Expressionist movement which spawned a new style of music, art and theatre.  The discussion will include examples of art and vocal/musical excerpts, as well as a live musical performance.  Panelists include Trinita Kennedy, John Hoomes, and Andy Campbell.

 

This panel discussion is a precursor to the Frist Center exhibition, German Expressionism: Masterworks from the Detroit Institute of Arts on view at the Frist Center from October, 19, 2012, through February, 10, 2013.
