Nashville Opera Guild supports:

Children’s Opera  -  HCA/Tristar Nashville Opera On Tour visits more than 28,000 children in schools and libraries in Middle Tennessee each year.

Met Auditions  -  The “American Idol” for future opera stars!  Nashville Opera Guild helps the Metropolitan Opera find new, inspiring talent through its annual District and Regional auditions.

Visiting Artists  -  Members of the Guild provide gift bags and hospitality for visiting artists performing with Nashville Opera.

Cast Parties  -  Members of the Guild host parties in appreciation for the cast and crew members of each Nashville Opera production.

Aspiring Artists  -  Nashville Opera Guild provides numerous scholarships for rising vocalists.

For the more than 20 years since its founding, Nashville Opera Guild members have preserved and promoted Grand Opera in Middle Tennessee through their support of Nashville Opera. The Guild believes that opera is the gateway to all fine arts–poetry, music, sculpture, painting, design, and dance.  By joining the Nashville Opera Guild, you can help ensure that your children and grand-children can enjoy this magical art form in the 21st Century and beyond.  Membership dues are $30 for individuals, $40 for families, $15 for students, and $100 for a supporting membership.

Partners in Excellence

Nancy Coleman, Nashville Opera Guild’s Past President and Parliamentarian, was given the Opera Volunteers International “Partners in Excellence” Award at its June 2014 conference in San Francisco.  Nancy is the latest of six winners from Nashville Opera Association and Guild who include Mary Ragland, Bill Whetsell, Shelley Page, Marion Couch, and Helen Brown.

Over the past 20 years, Nancy and her husband, Andy Valentine, have provided housing for the Mary Ragland Young Artists; she has provided refreshments for Board meetings and cast parties; organized silent auctions and donated gourmet dinners to those auctions; and planted gardens at the Opera Center.  Nancy chaired the La Bella Notte in 2006 and also served as Recording Secretary of the Opera Guild 2006–2007; Vice President of Special Events 2007–2009; President Elect 2009–2010; and was Guild President 2010–2012.  Nancy continues to offer herself at every opportunity to further the visibility and success of the Nashville Opera Guild and is so cherished by her Guild family.
