Japanese geisha Cio-Cio-San, Butterfly, abandons her faith and family for the dashing American sailor, Lieutenant Pinkerton. But Pinkerton's love is temporary and Butterfly's happiness, short-lived. In the end, Cio-Cio-San pays the ultimate price for her selfless devotion. For more than a century, audiences have been thrilled by Giacomo Puccini's haunting, poignant music and touched by the lovely Butterfly, who sacrifices everything for love. Check out our BUTTERFLY OPERA GUIDE.
