Nashville Opera Education

Inspiring the children and making a difference!

Nashville Opera’s school tour celebrated its 15th Anniversary in 2010.  Each year, an opera for children visits 20 counties in Middle Tennessee, exposing more than 25,000 students to opera theatre and classical music.

Nashville Opera has played to OVER 1/4 MILLION CHILDREN since 1995.

Over 50% of students served by our outreach programs are from Title 1 schools and are considered low-income or disadvantaged youth.

U.S. Department of Education research finds that engagement in the arts nurtures the development of cognitive, social, and personal skills and leads to higher levels of achievement over students with no arts exposure.  Nashville Opera is reaching students who need arts the most as “learning through the arts can help ‘level the playing field’ for disadvantaged youth.”

Nashville Opera has nine robust education programs that reach out to children, adults, educators, students, families, and future opera stars to share the power of opera in our community.  From training programs for rising singers to education programs for opera attendees and civic groups, Nashville Opera is exposing tens of thousands of people to our joyous art form.
